Maggie Nelson is currently a Senior Software Developer at Schematic in the Open Source Platforms Group. She is a leader in promoting utilizing coding standards, enforcing best practices and training new developers. She has also started a database interest group within the company which focuses on convincing developers that a database does not have to be a black box.
Maggie's interests lie primarily in designing and optimizing high performance, scalable systems that have to provide a lot of frequently changing data on demand. She loves PL/SQL and an appropriately normalized database.
While not writing code for work, you can find Maggie hanging out in the #phpc IRC channel, writing articles for her blog “Objectively Oriented” and playing videogames.
