As your application changes, so will the database that supports it. Keeping database objects and stored procedures synchronized with PHP can be a challenge in a multi-developer environment with a short release cycle and multiple development branches. This talk describes a method for containing database changes in a way that the application understands–think Ruby on Rails “migrations”. Changes to the database are applied when appropriate PHP changes have been made. The method is database-blind and allows the developer to choose a storage engine, such as XML.
